Julian O’Neill is a Consultant Orthodontist at Kettering General Hospital in
Northamptonshire,
in the UK, and also runs his own private practice.
He is originally from Northern Ireland and studied dentistry at Queens University before
working in England and undergoing his postgraduate orthodontic training at the Eastman
Dental Institute in London.
He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society international committee, and is immediate
Past President of the Federation of European Orthodontists.
Two years ago he took over as the Secretary of the European Federation of Orthodontic
Specialists Associations, EFOSA; and became President in June 2014.
Julian is an active member of The Angle Society of Europe. He is editor of the ASE
newsletter and a member of the ASE membership committee.
In 2006 he became a member of the European Board of Orthodontics, by examination.
He was a founder member of the Oxford – based Evidence Based Dentistry Board and is a
regular contributor to the publication, Evidence Based Dentistry.
He is a past Chairman of the BOS Clinical Effectiveness Committee.
He is involved in training Postgraduates in association with the Eastman Dental Institute.
He has been an ISFE examiner and currently examines for M Orth at the Royal College of
Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Julian has been part of the clinical team involved in the Manchester randomised trials group
as well as organising research in his own department.
He enjoys most activities involving fresh air and exercise, but especially cycling.
