Q: What does Islam say about oral sex?
A: Human’s behaviour has changed drastically over time; we are regularly being asked
these types of immoral questions. Islam being a complete way of life has answers to all
problems and queries.
I will mention a summarised version of the Fatwaa of Hazrat Mufti Abdur Raheem
Laajpoori (Reh Al), which is quite sufficient regarding this matter.
Q: When a man or women are in a state of purity, is the area of the private parts clean or
not? If at the time of intercourse the women takes the man’s private parts orally, or the
man does the same to the women, is this type of act acceptable or not? One feels shy to
ask this type of question. However necessity makes one ask these types of questions.
A: Regarding Masaa-il of Deen (religious verdicts) one should not be shy. If by being shy
one does not ask the question then how will we know the religious verdict on such an
important issue? For Allah (SWT) has said in the Holy Quran: “Allah is not shy in
revealing the truth.”
Therefore, one should not hide behind a veil of shyness in asking about religious verdicts.
Without doubt, the external private parts are clean. However, it is not natural that
everything clean be taken orally. The matter inside the nose is considered to be clean.
Does it mean that one will stick the tongue into someone’s nose or suck and kiss the
matter that comes out of the nose? Is it permissible to do this? The external part of the
back passage is also clean, is it permissible to make oral contact with this also? No,
never!
In the same way to take women’s private parts orally is not allowed. It is strongly
undesirable and is a sin. If a man has sexual desires then he should have sexual
intercourse with his wife in order to fulfil his desire. (Fataawa Alamgeeri)
Think about it, the mouth that takes the blessed name of Allah (SWT), recites the Holy
Quran, Durood etc. How can our heart allow this mouth to be used for such an evil act?
As one poet says: “Even washing the mouth a thousand times with rose water even then
taking Your blessed name is disrespectable.” (Fataawa Raheemiyah, Pg 270, Chapter 6)
