Cell Project – 7S and 7M
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to make a 3D model of a cell in order to better understand
the parts and workings of a cell.
You will be building a 3-D model of either a plant or animal cell. You will be choosing materials to
illustrating the components of a typical cell. You can use clay, sewing scraps….anything you can
think of. Choose different materials to represent each organelle. The material must accurately
represent the structure of the organelle. Remember, it is not necessary to buy materials. BE
CREATIVE!!!

You have been given illustrations of both plant and animal cells. Use your book or internet for color
illusions. Regardless of which illustration you use, you are RESPONSIBLE for all organelles that
are listed. You are also required to make a key that clearly shows which material represents which
organelle.
Your key must include what you used, name, and a description of the function of the organelle.
