Compare and Contrast,
Using Chemical Formula of
Photosynthesis and
Cellular Respiration.
By EunBi Ko
Definition
•
Photosynthesis : the process which
green plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide,
and water to make food and oxygen.
•
Cellular Respiration : the process of
oxidizing food molecules or breaking down
chemical bonds of glucose into carbon
dioxide and water.
Chemical formula
•
Photosynthesis
Carbon Dioxide + Water + Sunlight --> Glucose + Oxygen
6CO2 + 6H2O + Sunlight --> C6H12O6 + 6O2
•
Cellular Respiration
Glucose + Oxygen --> Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy
C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy (36 ATP)

(Organelles inside the plant cells
containing chlorophyll)
Inside the mitochondria
(Organelles capable of breaking
down Glucose)
