AT HOME CELL MODEL PROJECT
DUE DATE: Friday, January 13, 2017
THIS WILL BE WORTH A TEST GRADE!
Part 1. ANIMAL OR PLANT CELL MODEL: Create a model of an animal or plant cell. Here are some
ideas for creating your animal or plant cell model:





Draw a poster with a picture of your cell.
Create a model out of clay or other materials.
Make an edible cell! You can bake a cake, make it out of Jello - use your imagination.
Check with your teacher if you have another idea.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU MAY NOT MAKE PHOTOCOPIES OF AN ANIMAL OR PLANT
CELL AND GLUE THEM TO A POSTER! YOU MUST CREATE YOUR OWN MODEL!
Your model needs to be neat and colorful and as realistic as you can make it.
Part 2. Written Explanation: Write a paragraph telling me the parts of your cell. You should also describe
each part and tell me what they do to help the cell work. Use pages A6 and A7 in your textbook to help you!

Somewhere on your model there should be flags or arrows or a key to identify each of the parts
you labeled.

Animal Cell – Should include the following parts… cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuole, nucleus,
mitochondrion

Plant Cell – Should include the following parts… cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuole,
nucleus, mitochondrion, chloroplast, and chlorophyll
