12th Intelligent Systems Application to Power Systems Conference
ISAP 2003
Competitive, Environment, Renewable Energy, Distributed Generation
Lemnos, Greece, 31 August – 3 September 2003
The 12th ISAP 2003 Conference – “Intelligent Systems Application to Power Systems” was held in
Lemnos island, Greece on 31 August – 3 September 2003. The Conference has been organised
by the Electric Energy Systems Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens and
technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering Society, the Greek Chapter of IEEE, the
Hellenic National Committee of CIGRE and the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society.
ISAP 2003 was specifically dedicated to discuss innovative solutions in the area of operation,
control, planning and maintenance for large interconnected but also for isolated or weakly
interconnected power systems, as well as their components. It focused on power systems
operating in competitive environment, renewable energy and distributed generation. Employment
of novel software technologies were in the special scope of the Conference, but also intelligent
approaches achieved with conventional programming were of interest. An overall number of 102
papers were presented at the Conference in 18 parallel paper Sessions providing high level R&D
and practical experiences from 22 different countries. These papers were selected from 143
papers submitted. The Conference included three key-note speeches dealing with:

"Genesis and Future of Evolutionary Computing",

"Agent-Based Solutions for Distributed Applications: An Elementary Roadmap",

"Self-healing Electricity Infrastructure"
ISAP 2003 has been a great success attracting more than 140 participants from Greece and
abroad. It is believed that it has fully achieved its goals, to provide a major forum for state-of-the-art
presentations by international experts, to give the opportunity to engineers and scientists working
in the area of artificial intelligence application to power systems, exchange information and
experience and to promote international collaboration for the solution of the challenging problems
faced by modern power systems.
CD-ROM with the Proceedings of the Conference is available in the price of 60 Euros plus. Please
