Methodist Healthcare Employee Assistance Program
What is EAP?
The Mississippi Conference Board of Ordained Ministry is pleased to
partner with Methodist Healthcare Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to
provide short-term professional counseling and mental health services to all
clergy serving under appointment and their families. Methodist EAP has
offices in Memphis and a network of affiliates across Mississippi, Tennessee
and Arkansas. EAP providers offer counseling and support for a wide range
of life’s concerns and insure total confidence.
EAP provides up to six free counseling sessions per year for the clergy
member and their families. Authorization for six sessions is valid for up to
six months from the time of the initial call. New authorization is required for
each member of the family seeking services.
EAP is intended to address short term psychological/emotional concerns –
marriage/family, legal/financial, job stress, life balance, moves/transitions.
EAP is not intended for ongoing, long-term therapy. If the clergy person
wishes to extend their counseling beyond the 6 sessions, they will be able to
do so with a participating provider on their health insurance panel. An EAP
provider can be helpful in assessing when there is a need for ongoing
therapy and identify clinicians that are part of your Mental Health provider
network.
How can the EAP help the Mississippi Conference?
An EAP can help Clergy and their families deal with concerns that may
affect their personal lives and job performance.
EAP is about linking the health and well-being of employees with their high
job performance. Human nature suggests that one is more likely to be
focused, energetic and creative at work if their personal and work stressors
are at a minimum.
