Medical – coverage is provided through the Federal Employee Health Benefits program. Employees
have the choice of enrolling in a variety of different plan types. There is a premium cost sharing
between the SIHB and our employees, dependent upon the plan type and coverage level.
Dental – coverage is provided by Washington Dental Service. There is a premium sharing between the
SIHB and our employees, dependent upon the plan type and coverage level.
Flexible Spending Account – SIHB offers a pre-tax savings program for dependent care and/ or
health care related expenses.
Life Insurance – paid for by SIHB. The base benefit is $30,000 life and $30,000 AD&D.
Voluntary Life Insurance – Employees can elect to purchase additional life insurance for themselves
and family members.
Long Term Disability- paid for by SIHB. For extended illness or non-work related illness that has
employee out of work for longer than 6 months. Employees can elect to purchase an enhanced long
term disability benefit.
Sick Leave - Full time employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month (pro-rated for part time
employees).
Vacation – Full time employees accrue 10 vacation days per year (pro-rated for part time employees).
Holidays – The SIHB recognizes 12 holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day,
President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, American Indian Day, Veterans Day,
Thanksgiving Day, the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. (pro-rated for part
time employees).
403(b) Retirement Plan – Employees are eligible to contribute pre-tax dollars. After 1 year of
employment during open enrollment, employees may be eligible for an employer match based on years
of service. Employer match is subject to approval through SIHB annual budget process.
Employment Assistance Program - SIHB employees and their eligible family members are eligible
to receive EAP services.
Transportation Subsidy- The SIHB will subsidize $30 toward a monthly mass transit pass.
SIHB Benefits for JA
Training Leave- The SIHB offers 40 hours of training leave to full time employees (pro-rated based
on FTE).
