After this you will be placed at various sites onshore and
offshore gaining valuable experience, the sort that will help
you understand our methods, resources and
procedures. You will then complete your final year in order
to demonstrate your ability to be a Wind Technician.
About the business
Some of your day to day duties will include:
Siemens Wind Power is the UK's leading global energy
business to operate in partnership with customers in the
electricity supply industry and industrial markets providing
individual solutions to any complex problem involving
electrical power generation.



Hydraulic system repairs
Troubleshooting electrical issues and fault finding
Component replacement
Skills Required:
Wind turbines are an investment in the future. Protecting
that investment is the responsibility of highly trained
service personnel, and in the service environment,
experience rules. Over the past 30 years, Siemens has
accumulated thousands of hours of service experience at
inland, coastal and offshore sites. From the highly qualified
technician to the senior engineer monitoring a turbine's
condition, it is this track record that makes the difference.
Quality and safety go hand in hand. The service
department aims to provide the highest quality services
throughout the life cycle of wind turbines and follows
stringent safety requirements to ensure a safe working
environment.
The right commitment and enthusiasm for a career in a
leading edge engineering environment is critical. In
addition the following skills are required:






Possess a strong commitment and enthusiasm to
the role and the apprenticeship.
Strong interest in engineering and technology.
Good manual skills and the ability to work with
electrical and hydraulic systems.
Good level of computer literacy.
Good money management skills.
Care and attention to detail, adhering to all health
and safety requirements.
About the apprenticeship
Must have a good head for heights.
Our Advanced Apprenticeships are site based and will take
four years to be fully qualified. Apprentices work towards
a technical certificate and an employer owned standard
Level 3 qualification. You will be fully trained in all aspects
of the Wind industry within the Siemens bespoke
programme.
NB: Candidates must reside within 45 minutes of the
relevant sites.
Qualifications Required:
GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above which must
include Maths, English Language and Science and Level 2
ICT is an advantage.
