Oral presentation
Production, transmission and distribution of electrical energy
Competence aims:
* Choose an interdisciplinary topic for in-depth studies within his or her own programme area and
present this
*Select and use content from different sources independently, critically and responsibly.
*Use technical information in communication
*Express yourself orally with proper register, fluency, precision and coherence.
Choose one of the following topics (if you have another suggestion just let me
know) and make a 5-6 min presentation about it. You can work in groups of two
if it sounds more comfortable for you.

Technologies for water turbines (history, function etc.) (Choose one or two of the
following subjects):
-
The Pelton turbine
The Francis turbine
The Kaplan turbine
Usage of hydropower turbines in Norway.
The Hoover Dam – one of the biggest hydroelectric power stations in the USA.

Saving energy by using more renewable energy (choose one or two of the following
subjects)
– Wind power
- Wave power
- Solar power
- Hydroelectricity


Future Energy Challenges
Nuclear Power (advantages and challenges)
Global warming (Greenhouse Gas Problems)
What you need to keep in mind while making a GOOD presentation.
Think carefully about the key points that you want to get across, and then build
your presentation around these key points.
Start by giving a general overview of your topic.
Use the blackboard, an overhead projector, or a computer for main points. It is
not compulsory to use a Power Point, but it is a big advantage.
Explain and comment on your main points.
Try to speak freely without being too dependent on your notes.
Explain technical words.
Face your audience and use your voice, your face and your hands to
communicate effectively.
Visual aids can improve your presentation significantly. Keep in mind that the
aids are supposed to support your talk. Do not let them dominate you.
Remember that if you seem enthusiastic about your topic, it is likely that your
audience will be, too.
