DER Touristik Group Creates International Board Overall Leadership for Worldwide Activities Country subsidiaries to remain autonomous Sören Hartmann to head the international board Streamlined holding company for business operations in 14 European countries Frankfurt, 28 September 2015. DER Touristik has restructured its international business operations. Nearly a month after acquiring the European tour-operator activities of Kuoni, the travel division of REWE Group has created a new international structure. The business it operates in 14 European countries will now be conducted under the name of DER Touristik Group. "DER Touristik Group will be positioned as a strategic holding company that is lean and nimble," said Sören Hartmann, the CEO of DER Touristik Group. The companies doing business in the 14 countries will remain autonomous and will continue to be led by their current management, Sören Hartmann added. "The employees and management in the countries have our trust and full support," he said. DER Touristik Group will be led by an international board. The board will represent both the regions and the focal points of the group's international activities. CEO Sören Hartmann will serve as chairman of the international board and will be responsible for the group's overall strategy. The independent companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be organised into the Central Europe Region led by René Herzog. The successful Executive Board will remain in place, just like the overall structure in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Marcel Bürgin will be added to the Executive Board as head of Kuoni Switzerland. Responsibility for tour operators and sales in Northern Europe will be assumed by Leif Vase Larsen. This region comprises Scandinavia, Finland, Great Britain and the Benelux countries. In this structure, Derek Jones will oversee Great Britain and Jan Middelhoek the Benelux. Ferid Nasr (CEO Eastern Europe) will continue to direct the Eastern European Region, which consists of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The new structure will also include three departments with group-wide strategic business fields. Michael Kimmer will be become CEO for Destination Management and Hotels. In this position, he will lead the expansion of global travel destination activities. The position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DER Touristik Group has not been filled yet. As the financial head of the international organisation, this executive will be in charge of investment management and group consolidation. With the acquisition of Kuoni's European tour-operator activities and the new organisational structure, DER Touristik has become a global player in trade and tourism within a year in its role as the travel division of REWE Group with more than 7.7 million guests and revenue of 7 billion euros.
