Streamlined holding company for business operations in 14 European
countries
Frankfurt, 28 September 2015. DER Touristik has restructured its international
business operations. Nearly a month after acquiring the European tour-operator
activities of Kuoni, the travel division of REWE Group has created a new
international structure. The business it operates in 14 European countries will now
be conducted under the name of DER Touristik Group.
"DER Touristik Group will be positioned as a strategic holding company that is lean
and nimble," said Sören Hartmann, the CEO of DER Touristik Group. The companies
doing business in the 14 countries will remain autonomous and will continue to be
led by their current management, Sören Hartmann added. "The employees and
management in the countries have our trust and full support," he said.
DER Touristik Group will be led by an international board. The board will represent
both the regions and the focal points of the group's international activities. CEO
Sören Hartmann will serve as chairman of the international board and will be
responsible for the group's overall strategy.
The independent companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be organised
into the Central Europe Region led by René Herzog. The successful Executive Board
will remain in place, just like the overall structure in Germany, Austria and
Switzerland. Marcel Bürgin will be added to the Executive Board as head of Kuoni
Switzerland.
Responsibility for tour operators and sales in Northern Europe will be assumed by
Leif Vase Larsen. This region comprises Scandinavia, Finland, Great Britain and the
Benelux countries. In this structure, Derek Jones will oversee Great Britain and Jan
Middelhoek the Benelux.
Ferid Nasr (CEO Eastern Europe) will continue to direct the Eastern European
Region, which consists of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.
The new structure will also include three departments with group-wide strategic
business fields. Michael Kimmer will be become CEO for Destination Management
and Hotels. In this position, he will lead the expansion of global travel destination
activities. Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) Dirk Tietz will oversee group-wide IT

strategy and company development. The position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of
DER Touristik Group has not been filled yet. As the financial head of the
international organisation, this executive will be in charge of investment
management and group consolidation.
With the acquisition of Kuoni's European tour-operator activities and the new
organisational structure, DER Touristik has become a global player in trade and
tourism within a year in its role as the travel division of REWE Group with more than
7.7 million guests and revenue of 7 billion euros. As an European sales and touroperator business, DER Touristik Group works closely with a global network of
destination management companies.
