STAAR Review – Day 9
Biodiversity
Food Chains & Food Webs
Ecological Succession
Biodiversity
• All the parts of the environment, biotic and
abiotic, that make up the environment.
• Biotic Factors – the living things;
Animals, people, plants, etc.
• Abiotic Factors – the nonliving parts of the
environment; the sun, air, water, dirt, etc.
Food Chains
• A single line from energy to final consumer.
Identify the predator and prey in this chain. If
you introduced a parasite what would it be?
Food Web
• Interacting food chains.
Marine Food Web
Genetic Traits
• Genetic traits are all the inherited traits in a
living organism.
Selective Breeding
• Selective breeding is the process of pairing
organisms with the best traits to produce
superior organisms.
Ecological Succession
Ecological Succession
• When resources are complete in an area then
the animals will start to return to an area.
