Cell Review
Directions: With a partner, examine the follow diagram of a cell and label the parts. When that
is completed, use the same parts to match up with their desired function. A word bank is
provided at the bottom of the page and each word will be used once for each section.

Section 2: Functions. Using the word bank again, use the number that is next to the word that
fits the description of the function. Again, every word will be used once.
A) A gel-like substance that holds the organelles in place. _______
B) This digests bacteria and some foods entering the cell and breaks down waste. _______
C) The cells “power plant” because they generate the energy. Look like a kidney
bean.______
D) This contains cells genetic material. Brain or control panel of cell. ________
E) Forms a barrier between the inside of the cell and the outside, so that the chemical
environments on the two sides can be different. ________
F) Round organelle in the nucleus. Usually involved with synthesis of RNA. _______
G) Associated with the storage, synthesis, and transport of materials within the cell. Its
sometimes referred to as the cell “highway”. ________
H) Usually located near the nucleus and synthesizes, packages, and secretes cellular
products. It packages waste & harmful materials. ________
