The AVE sector model is linked to the SA 8000 standard
(I)

Combining the joint declaration „AVE -acting worldwide in a socially
responsible manner“ with SA 8000 standard, but
•
making SA 8000 practicable through 2 development stages

1st stage obligatory: Social minimum requirements (part B of
questionnaire), with

pragmatic social management system and documentation
requirements reasonable for all business sizes

Responsibility of main suppliers initially only for social performance
of their sub-contractors (not the entire value-added chain)

Payment of the statutory minimum wage or normal industry wage if
this is higher than the statutory minimum wage

Making SA 8000 practicable through 2 development stages

2nd stage on a voluntary basis but encouragement of suppliers by
participating trading companies: „Full scope SA 8000“ (part C of the
questionnaire), in particular

Social management systems and documentation obligations including
communication obligations

Responsibility of the main suppliers for the entire value-added chain
including social performance of own suppliers, sub-suppliers,
subcontractors and home workers

Living wage

The AVE sector model combines audits at the suppliers with
training/controlling measures for the suppliers (I)
• Audits





solely by SAI-accredited companies
commissioned by the main suppliers or by the participating trading
companies for the main suppliers
only on the basis of the AVE questionnaire
generally at the expense of the main suppliers
must comply in all respects with AVE‘s quality and procedural
specifications including SAI accreditation regulations
 The audits with their 2 corrective action plans (questionnaire part B
„Minimum Requirements“ and part C „Full Scope SA 8000“) give
information on the performance of the main suppliers
