Job Description, Radiology Technologist
Radiologic technologists, more commonly known as radiology technicians, perform X-rays requested by
physicians to help diagnose a variety of medical issues. Radiology technicians must be able to closely
follow physician instructions, prepare radiograph equipment, position patients correctly and accurately
capture the requested diagnostic images. Radiologic technologists must also protect the patient’s safety
during the X-ray procedure. Radiology tech jobs require individuals to manipulate heavy equipment and
maneuver patients who may be disabled, so it is ideal for such technicians to be in good physical
condition. Radiologic technologists are potentially exposed to radiation on a daily basis and must take
the proper precautions to protect themselves. Radiology technicians work mostly in hospitals; however,
some maintain employment in private physicians’ practices and imaging centers.
