Ivo Marek MUDr Marek, PhD, graduated with a degree in dentistry from the Faculty of Medicine at Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic in 1990. He completed a three-year training programme for orthodontics in 1999 and finished his postgraduate studies at the Dental School at Palacky University in 2007, where he earned his PhD. Dr. Marek runs a private dental clinic in Breclav, where he focuses on interdisciplinary dental care, especially on the collaboration of orthodontists with periodontists and implantologists. Moreover, the dental clinic has gained credibility for several important clinical successes; it has the privilege of being the first clinic in the Czech Republic to perform the autotransplantation of a premolar, etc. Dr Marek works as an Associate Professor at the Orthodontic Department of Palacky University in both graduate and postgraduate study programmes. In addition, he is a part-time teacher at the Orthodontic Department of the Faculty of Medicine in Brno and at Charles University's Faculty of Medicine, in Prague. He has published 33 articles and has given over 160 lectures in the Czech Republic and abroad. Dr Marek is a Vice President of the Czech Orthodontic Society, and a member of the European Orthodontic Society, the American Orthodontic Society and the World Orthodontic Society. In 2007, he was appointed Honorary Member of the Implantology Club of the Czech Republic for the partnership between the fields of orthodontics and implantology. He is a member of the editorial board and reviewer of the journal 'Ortodoncie' (Orthodontics) and reviewer for The Angle Orthodontist. He is member of the accreditation committee of the Ministry of Healthcare and a representative of the Czech Orthodontic Society in EFOSA, as well as an AAO Ambassador.
