Neuronsarethemostspecialisedcellsinthebody.Theircapacityforreproduc+on
isverylimited.Theyaremadeupofacellbody,whichissimilartoallother
cells,andhastwokindsoflongextensions:dendritesandaxonsorneurites.
Cellbody:thiscontainsthe
nucleusandotherorganelles,
andisfilledwith
cytoplasm.
Axon:thisisalongextensionthatis
madeupofcytoplasmandcarries
nerveimpulsesfromthecellbodyto
anotherneuronorcell.
Dendrites:theseareshort,
branchedextensionsofthe
cellbodythatreceivenerve
impulsesfromotherneurons.
