Hans Oersted discovered that the forces of magnetism and
electricity are closely related
An electromagnet is a coil of wire wrapped around an iron core
The strength of an electromagnet can be changed
Electricity and magnetism are closely related. Both are the result
of charged particles moving. The combination of these forces,
electromagnetism, is very useful in our daily lives.
An electromagnet is a coil of wire with many loops which an
electric current passes
To make the field eve stronger, the coil is often wrapped around an
iron core
More coils make the electromagnet stronger
A larger core makes the electromagnet stronger
3 ways to make a magnet stronger:
*increasing the amount of current running through the wire
*increase the number of coils
*make magnetic core larger
Like a bar magnet, an electromagnet has a north and south pole
Electromagnets have many uses in industry and in everyday
electronic products
