WHAT IS AN INTERACTIVE WORD WALL?
A word wall is a systematically organized collection of
words displayed in large letters on a wall or other large
display place In the classroom.
It is a tool to use, not just a display.
Word walls are designed to promote group learning
during reading and writing and shared by a classroom
of children.

GOALS OF A WORD WALL
Develop a growing core of words that will become a
part of the student's reading and writing vocabulary

HOW WORDS WORK
•
Double consonants (little, add. off)
•
Two vowels can make one sound (boat, eat)
•
Silent letters (Gabe, know, great, sign, light)

Homographs-Words that are spelled the same, but with more

viewed from all angles of the classroom
r Place the words in an organized manner, alphabetized
