Michelangelo: From Tuscany
He was an Artist, Sculptor and Architect
He created the Sistine Chapel, Pieta and David.
The Sistine Chapel is located in St. Peters Dome, within the Vatican
Within the Sistine Chapel is the Creation of man story: where the God is reaching out to
touch the finger of Adam.
This is Renaissance art because of the use of: Colors, Shadowing, Facial Expression.
Perspective and Realism.
Within the Sistine Chapel is also the Last Judgment: Where there is Michelangelo is
Depicted as a lifeless corps. He depicted himself this way because this is how he felt after
he painted the Sistine Chapel and the demands that were placed on him from the church
The Pieta: carved out of marble. It depicts Mary holding her son Jesus after he was
Crucified.
The marble depicts Realism and Shadowing.
David: was carved out of marble in 1504. David is the man who beat the Goliath in the
story of David and Goliath with a leather sling casting a stone.

- Niccolo Machiavelli: Wrote “The Prince” – which was a guide to be a ruler

He was an Italian Poet and Scholar

Literacy- up to this point all books were copied by hand.
It was not until 1455 when Johann Gutenburg invented the printing press
