How did the Norman conquest change
people’s lives?
Point:
The Norman conquest brought some great
changes to the way we talk to each other.
Example:
This was shown by the changes made to our
traditional names. Many people have started
using French names like Henry and William
instead of Ethelred.
Explain:
This was a big change for the people of
England as their language was transformed.
This change has also had a long lasting
impact as many people in England still name
their children Henry and William.
TRUE or FALSE?
1) The Normans introduced new methods of
transport to England.
2) The Normans did not change the way that
people farmed the land.
3) English people began to use French names
for their children.
4) The Normans introduced the peasants to a
new diet and built them new houses.
5) King William gave a lot of money to the
churches.
