Lesson: HBS-5 Consecration: The Key To God’s Heart Three Steps To God’s Perfect Will - Part 2 I. Step #1: ‘Ye Must Be Born Again’. II. Step #2: ‘Be Filled With The Spirit’. III. Step #3. (Re) Dedicate & (Re) Consecrate Your Life To Him. A. God’s has a plan for our life. Jer 29:11-13 NIV. B. But we must choose to get this plan. Dt 28:1-2, 30:19. Like Jesus did. Mt 26:39-42. C. All Christians have a choice on which path they take through their life on earth. Mt 13:44. Path (Mt 7:13) View Terrain My Guide I Make Decisions by My Mental State Destination Final Status Action Req’d Broad Path = My Way Narrow Path = God’s Way Initially looks clear, but increasing darkness as I get further off course. Stumbling Snares, Pitfalls. Pr 1:7-17. Much backtracking and machete work. Me. Jer 17:5-6. Impulse, best guess, trial and error, feelings, copying what others do. A Reward. 1Cor 3:11-16. I’m loved by God without limit Prayer of Consecration & then living it. 1. The Christian’s Broad Path: My Will and My Desires. This path is wide and broad and looks straight and easy and obvious in the beginning, and it seems that I can see far ahead to success and happiness. But darkness looms ahead as I stray further and further off course from the Word and God’s perfect will for me. When obstacles and trials come, it’s up to me and me alone to get through them. Since I haven’t ‘sold what I have and bought the field’, I seem to be always searching for treasure in the wrong places, on a path that gets increasingly dark. I have little light and direction from God because I haven’t asked for His will. This finally causes me to stumble and fall in snares and ‘deals’ I should have stayed away from. I encounter trials God never meant for me to encounter. Few people on this path will be influenced for Jesus through my life and witness. Even though I ‘did it my way’ like Frank, I have little inner satisfaction or sense of lasting accomplishment. To go this way, I don’t need to change anything. This is the ‘default’ path. 2. The Christian’s Narrow Path: God’s Perfect Will. Lesson: HBS-5 This path is narrow with hills, mountains, valleys, twists, and turns but with guidance every step of the way (this is the way; walk ye in it - Is 30:21) and strength when needed to climb the mountains encountered (I can do all things in Christ.. Phil 4:13). Every step is negotiated with ease as I stay in His yoke (Mt 11:28) and as I rely on Him and take it one step at a time (Mt 6:34). To get here, ‘I sold what I had and bought the field’, and am searching for and finding much treasure as I go. Path gets brighter and brighter since I stay in the Word and have a lamp for my feet and a light on my path (Ps 119:105. When obstacles and trials come, the Lord helps me to stand and to get through them to the other side as I obey His Word. (Lk 6:46-49). I’m protected from bad deals and pitfalls by Lord’s influence and leading (Pr 4:11-23). Many people on this path will be influenced for Jesus through my life and witness. I lead a life of inner satisfaction and spiritual adventure as I place my feet on His path with the Lord’s help each day (Pr 16:3). At end, “well done good and faithful servant”, with several rewards at ‘awards banquet’. To go this Way, I must give up my will and way, and tell God I want His will and way for my life. Lesson: HBS-5 HOMEWORK –HBS-5 ___. Only Jesus could ever live in God’s perfect will. (Rom 1:1-2). ___. God knows when I’m ready to consecrate all to Him and He’ll take care of it when it’s time. ___. When I consecrate all that I am to Him, God will help move me into His perfect will for me. ___. Consecration of my life to God’s perfect will means I’ll have joy and peace and no problems. ___. No, it means that He will help me to stand during trial without being ‘swept away’. ___. When I’m in God’s perfect will, it will be possible to withstand persecution, test and trial without losing my peace, my joy or the blessings of God. ___. When I was born again, only my spirit was affected, my mind was not renewed and my body stayed the same. ___. Ps 119:105 says the World is a lamp unto my feet and a light on my path. ___. Satan likes it when Christians get so involved in their own lives that they forget that God has a specific plan for them. ___. I need not be worried about tomorrow, because tomorrow will take care of itself if I’m putting God’s will first in my life. ___. The Bible says to trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not unto my own understanding and to acknowledge Him in all I do and He will direct my path. ___. One way I can acknowledge Him is by giving Him permission to run my life. ___. The Bible says in Jer 17:5-6, that if I trust primarily in myself, I won’t be able to see the prosperity and good when it comes and therefore won’t be able to take advantage of it. ___. But the next two verses say that if I’ll turn things over to and trust Him, I’ll bear fruit (succeed) in all that I do. ___. If I continually feel confused and have little real peace, joy, and blessing it could mean that I haven’t fully released God to do His will in my life. ___. The Bible says in 1Jn 5:18 that if I’ll do things God’s way, Satan won’t be able to touch me. ___. If I’m a Christian and I don’t commit myself to doing God’s perfect will for my life, I might not go to heaven. Lesson: HBS-5 ___. No, I’ll go to heaven alright, but I might not get a ‘well done’ and a reward at the final ‘awards banquet’. ___. When I commit myself to doing things God’s way, I can rest and just follow Him day to day.
