Review Part 1 Your Quiz Corrections as many of the same problems will be on Test From Quiz: Define Triangles by Angles : Acute ___ Obtuse ___ Right _____ Equiangular ________ Define Triangle by Side : Scalene ___ are equal. Isosceles ____ are equal. Equilateral _____ are equal We also know we can use the ______ Formula which is __________________ to check the sides and then Define the Triangle Then we added to those definitions in Section 4/5/6 Isosceles: Not only are ____ Sides equal. But the __ _____ opposite those sides are equal. (Vice-Versa) Every Equilateral Triangle is ___________ (Vice-Versa.) Every Equiangular Triangle is ______ Degrees in each So if every angle in Triangle is 60 Degrees we know it is _____________ & ______________/ On our Quiz we set up problems like 1 Step Set Up: (2 Remote Interior = Exterior) SO ____________ 2 Step Set Up: JEB & REB are a Linear pair. So _________________ Then REB = 180 so ___________________________ Also Rules from Ch3. Vertical Angles are Equal If Parallel Lines THEN Alt Interior, Alt Exterior, Corresponding are Equal However = 180 & Linear pair = 180 & Ch3 Rules only works for _____ DO NOT USE THEM FOR SIDES or DISTANCE PROBLEMS On our Test we are going to make it more complicated by Adding in “Isosceles” and “Equilateral” Rules mentioned Earlier Set Up__________ Set up _______________ From the Quiz we did We know we can fill in 7 Statements ABC ______ AB ______ & A _______ BC ______ & B _______ AC ______ & C _______ From Section 4-5-6 We Learned that we don’t need to prove All 6 Facts that We do need to prove 4 Good Patterns We have to avoid being tricked by 1. ___________ 1. ______________________ 2. ___________ 2.______________________ 3. ___________ 3. ______________________ 4. ___________ We will have Triangles on test you have to say if they are Congruent or Not AND WHY! (Like the WS 4.4-4.5 on my website from Tue) We also learned to use these 4 Good Patterns in Proofs. They are the “Reason” we are able to say ABC XYZ because of SSS (or one of the other good patterns) We also learned we can check SSS by using the ___________ Formula. You have to check all ____ sides. If even ____ side is not the same. Then the ABC is NOT XYZ The nice thing about these proofs is that we were able to work them backwards. then you can organize your proof to look like If you know the Final Reason is SSS 1. “s” AB ____ do something to make these sides equal (might be 1 step like Given or Reflexive) 2. “s” do something to make these sides equal (might be 2 steps like Given & 3. BC ______ Definition of Midpoint 4. “s” AC ______ --- do something to make these sides equal (might be 1 step like Given or Reflexive ) 5. ABC XYZ because of SSS (or one of the other good patterns) Common Reasons in these proofs are Given, Reflexive (Usually for Sides), Vertical (Always for Angles) Definition of Bisector or Definition of a Midpoint. Isosceles Triangles if 2 sides are congruent the 2 angles opposite are congruent Isosceles Triangles if 2 angles are congruent the 2 sides opposite are congruent All right angles are congruent See my website, and review the other Answer Keys and Note Pages there! you can go here and find similar stuff http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/geometry/gp6/pracisos.htm or go to YouTube and Search like “Isosceles Triangle Problem” and you will find multiple videos.
