Name:
A) Go to http://www.nature.ca/genome/04/041/041_e.cfm and click on “Mix Those
Genes”
Use the game to answer these questions:
1.
Can two brown-eyed parents give birth to a green-eyed child?
2.
How about a blue-eyed child?
3.
Can two green-eyed parents give birth to a brown-eyed child?
4.
Which combination of parents could give birth to children with all three eye
colors?
5.
For which combination of parents would half of the children have blue eyes
and half have green eyes?
6.
Is the allele for Brown eyes dominant over the allele for green eyes?
7.
Why are newborn babies’ eyes blue?
B) Go to http://pbskids.org/dragonflytv/games/dog_breeding_v37.swf and try the game.
After you have practiced with the lower levels, click on level 6 (a multiple genetic trial)
and answer the following questions:
1.
Draw 3 pedigree diagrams to show the crosses you had to make in order to
complete the task.
C) Go to http://biologica.concord.org/webtest1/web_labs.htm and click on Dragon
Genetics. Answer the following questions:
1.
Why are there two different versions of each chromosome?
2.
Match the newly hatched dragon with the top dragon. How did you do it (List
the steps)?
3.
For each chromosome, list the genes that are present and indicate which allele
is dominant, or if there incomplete dominance or codominance.
Go to http://biologica.concord.org/webtest1/web_labs.htm and click on Mendel’s Peas.
Go through the Meiosis and Pedigree sections, and then click on the Activity tab.
Complete the activity and answer the following question:
1.
Describe how you accomplished the task.
2.
Draw a pedigree for the crosses you performed.
