Professional Status
Cathy Winston is Managing Director of Winston.ie.
Relevant Experience
Having completed an honours degree in Economics in UCD, Cathy trained in Market Research,
Marketing, Business Coaching, Advanced Facilitation and more recently in Creativity and Innovation
with the Creative Education Foundation in Atlanta, USA. She has lectured in Marketing on the Smurfit
Graduate MBS programme.
Through the 80’s and 90’s Cathy worked as a qualitative researcher with the top Irish Blue Chip
companies (Dunnes Stores, Glanbia, C&C, AIB Capital Markets, Meteor, British Airways,
Glaxosmithkline, Green Isle Foods, O2, NTR, Coca Cola, Sherry Fitzgerald, Fine Gael) The focus was on
identifying new opportunities based on the changing environment, providing the data and insights
required to better align them with their market and customers, to differentiate themselves from their
competitors, add value on the customer journey, and identify their unique proposition so as to engage new
customers.
In the most recent past she has worked with companies who need to generate shareholder value, through
injecting creative thinking and new ideas into their business planning process. (Paddy Power, Mainstream
Renewable Power, Hostelworld.com, Gifts Direct.com) Currently she is working as an implementation
coach on the Enterprise Ireland iGAP programme, which seeks to fast track growth in high potential
Internet companies. She has set up and managed several businesses in the research, innovation and retail
space. She lectures on Innovation to achieve business growth in DCURyan Academy on the Business
Innovation Programme and on Leadership and Innovation at the Bankers Institute. She has also been a
guest lecturer on Market led Innovation on the Diploma in marketing in the IMI.
