Tracing the Evolution of
Law and Justice
There have been many important stops along the road to today’s American Legal
System. You (and your partner) have been given one (or more) historic criminal or civil
codes to conduct research upon. The two finished products will be…
1) A visual/oral presentation that addresses the following points:
◙
◙
◙
◙
◙
◙
◙
Name of your assigned code of laws.
The location and time period that it was in place.
How and by whom the laws were created
Highlight some of its more significant and interesting components
Compare and contrast the code with our current U.S. laws.
Highlight any weaknesses with the laws
Cite all images and information throughout, or on Final slide
The assignment must be presented to your classmates and can be in the form of
a PowerPoint slideshow, a Prezi presentation, or something to that effect. It should
contain images and a minimum amount of words, as grading will focus on the
presentation of the information to an audience by you. Your research must be properly
cited as well, including locations of any images from the internet.
2) A written assignment that does the following:
 Contains the same information as asked for in the above
presentation.
 Concludes with a paragraph that details the work you did each day
in the lab to contribute to your team or complete the written portion.
The slideshow is due by _____________, the written portion by _____________.
Time in the computer labs is limited, so work diligently and at home!
