“I have – Who has?” game: Ecology
1C7
This game can be used as an active way to test student knowledge of key terms in this topic.
Everyone in the class can be involved, and each gets to ask and answer a question.
Key words:
Adaptation, competition, interdependence, habitat, pollution, food chain, food web, producer,
consumer, decomposer, vertebrates, invertebrates, sun, plants, animals, ecosystem, ecology,
conservation, distribution, acid rain, global warming, predator, prey.
How to play
The table below is either copied or printed, and cut into individual “cards”.
The cards are randomly deals the rest one per student. Each card has a statement “I have ….”,
followed by a question. The student with the STARTER card begins the game by reading out
the first question to the group, and the holder of the card with the answer to that question reads
their answer out, and their question in turn…
Note

Certain words might cause problems – teacher can decide to hold that card and play as
part of the group, or change the text on the cards before copying

One strategy for use with a group where the words might be difficult would be to give the
list of words to the students as a homework exercise prior to playing the game

The students could be challenged to cooperate to form a circle so that the answer to each
person’s question is held by the person beside them
