A NEW YEAR OF WONDEFUL ENTERTAINMENT THIS SPRING
The New Victoria Theatre, Woking has announced a fabulous new Spring season of top quality productions
to fill your diary over the next few months. The new season brochure is available and boasts an incredible
range of shows with, quite literally, something for everyone.
Bringing in the New Year with a bang is the all singing, all dancing show, Hairspray from 18 – 29 January.
Recent winner of Best Regional Musical by Broadwayworld.com and coming directly from the West End this
show stars Micky Dolenz and Michael Starke, and tells of the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with an
even bigger heart. With a score and songs you can’t help but join in with including, Good Morning
Baltimore and You Can’t Stop the Beat, Hairspray is a perfect antidote to the winter blues this January, a
show which will put a smile on your face and will keep you singing and dancing well after you have left the
theatre!
Embarking on it’s first ever UK tour following a knockout five years in the West End is the hilarious Tony
Award winning comedy musical Avenue Q. This truly unique, cheeky and charming musical comes to
Woking from 21 – 26 March and follows the lives of the lovably hopeless characters on a downtown New
York street. Performed by a cast of hugely talented performers and puppets, this show is full of rudeness,
bad behaviour and political incorrectness - it promises to be a hilarious experience you won’t forget! Not
suitable for under 12s.
For those who like a bit of drama in their lives, they will not be disappointed this season. From 22 – 26
February, following an eagerly anticipated season at the National Theatre, comes Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
With Olivier-Award winner Rory Kinnear as the troubled Prince, Kinnear recently won the Best Actor Award
at the Evening Standard Awards for his portrayal. Duncan Preston reprises the role as the iconic lawyer,
Atticus Finch, in a new production of To Kill A Mockingbird, 4 – 9 April. The Pulitzer Prize winner tells the
extraordinary story of life in the American Deep South through the inquiring eyes of a child.
