Unit Project
You will create a piece of propaganda like the ones created during the war to try to
convince the US to join the war on either the Allied or Central side- the most
convincing and accurate wins!
Why you should learn about World War One
World War one changed the World including which countries were more powerful, the
geography of Europe, the way that war is fought, the way
that the World’s countries interacted with one another, and
WWI as it relates to causes of WWII.

Performance Assessment
Students will be assessed in their debate on entering the war and their essay on how the US and the
world was changed by WWI. Students will also be assessed by a unit test.
Unit Activities
Essay on how the US and World was changed by WWIAs a culminating activity for the unit students will compose a one to two page essay on how
the world was changed by WWI. Students will be able to use notes taken throughout the unit to
write the essay. Students should show what they learned about WWI in this essay and it will be
counted as a part of the exam.
Map of the World as it connects to WWI
Two maps of the world with the countries involved in the war highlighted and color coded to
represent the side that each country fought with. One map will depict the world before WWI, and
the other map will be the world after WWI.
Consistent Features
Time LineA time line of the major events leading up to and during WWI.
Vocabulary FoldableStudents will create a foldable to study their vocabulary. The terms will be on one side and
the definition on the other.
Comparison Chart the Allied and Central PowersA comparison chart including countries, motivation for the war, and major battle and people.
Unit Project
Students will create a piece of propaganda like the ones created during the war to try to convince
the US to join the war on either the Allied or Central side- the most convincing and accurate wins!
Students will examine examples of propaganda from both sides of the war and study the motivation
behind the creation of the propaganda. They will be assigned a cause to represent with their
propaganda and will create a piece that that side would have used.
Why you should learn about World War One
World War I changed the World including which countries were more powerful, the geography of
Europe, the way that war is fought, the way that the World’s countries interacted with one another,
and how the results of WWI are connected as some of the causes of WWII.
