1. A loaf of bread weighs 5.3 N on Earth. What mass does it have on Earth?
2. The same loaf of bread is now on the Moon, where the acceleration due to gravity is 1/6
the magnitude on Earth. A) What would the bread weigh on the Moon? B) What mass
does it have on the Moon?
3. On Jupiter the acceleration due to gravity is g = 25.2m/s/s. What is the mass and weight
of the bread on Jupiter?
4. How much tension is in a string holding a 2.5 kg rainbow trout?
5. How much force does a table have to apply to a 50.0 kg TV that is placed on it?
6. The Red and the Blue team are having a tug of war. After 2 minutes the flag has not
budged a bit. The red team has 12 people each pulling with 200 N of force. If the Blue
team has 10 people, how hard are each of them pulling. (assume they all pull with equal
strength and neglect the weight of the rope)

9. A crane is lifting a 1500 kg car with a cable vertically at a constant speed of 4.0 m/s.
What is the tension in the cable?
10. Terminal velocity is the constant speed objects reach when they fall. The faster the object
goes, the more air it hits, and the more air resistance it experiences. If air pushes on a
skydiver with 250 N of force at the moment it reaches terminal velocity, what is the mass
of the skydiver?
