Name: _____________________________________ Period: ___________________ Unit 3 Goal Page: Triangles Unit 3 CA Standards A “T” represents this unit and any questions related to triangles will be entered into the grade book under “T.” 2.0 Students write geometric proofs, including proofs by contradiction. 4.0 Students prove basic theorems involving congruence and similarity. 5.0 Students prove that triangles are congruent or similar, and they are able to use the concept of corresponding parts of congruent triangles. (2) 6.0 Students know and are able to use the triangle inequality theorem. (2) 12.0 Students find and use measures of sides and of interior and exterior angles of triangles and polygons to classify figures and solve problems. (3) 16.0 Students perform basic constructions with a straightedge and compass, such as angle bisectors, perpendicular bisectors, and the line parallel to a given line through a point off the line. Unit 3 Learning Targets Below are the topics covered in this unit, all of these topics are entered into the grade book under “A” for Angles. LT Description CA Std T1 I can classify triangles using their angles & side lengths. 12 T2 I can apply the Triangle Inequality Theorem to determine if 3 sides make a triangle or what the third side of a triangle is given 2 sides. 6 T3 I can use theorems such as Triangle Sum Theorem, Triangle Exterior Angle Theorem, & Base Angle Theorem to solve problems. 12 T4 I can create proofs that prove congruent triangles or congruent parts of triangles. 4&5 CS2 CS3 I can construct perpendicular bisector of a line & explain its purpose I can construct a perpendicular line through a point to a given line & explain its purpose & difference between a perpendicular bisector.
