Mental Maps: The World Regions:
Create your own atlas!
1. Print off physical and political maps ofNorth America,
Latin America,
Europe,
Middle East or Southwest Asia/North Africa,
Russia and the Republics,
Africa (Sub-Saharan),
South Asia,
Southeast Asia,
East Asia,
Oceania and Australia/New Zealand
2. Label the major physical features-mountains, rivers, deserts, etc. Once you are confident about regions, and major
physical features, then work on countries within these regions.
3. Label the countries and major urban areas. HINT- Have a mental map of the United States and Canada (States,
provinces, and major cities). The United States and Canada may be your first map quiz. Get started right away!
4. Finally, set your cap at being an explorer! Be curious about the whole world. Start watching the news and reading the
international and local sections of major newspapers. Make it a point to learn about what is going on in the world and
discuss it with your family or friends.
