Annunciator System Overview: Annunciator is basically a system which is used to monitor and control different industrial parameters like temperature, humidity etc in industrial development and production systems. The purposed system contains temperature, humidity sensors and their values (readings) are displayed on the personal computer. The software running in personal computer also has control button which is used to turn ON and OFF the parameter control unit e.g. fan or heater for temperature. Microcontroller 2. Sensors and signal conditioning circuit 3. 4. 5. 6. Serial Communication Personal computer with visual basic software Relay and Relay Driver Power Supply 1. Microcontroller Microcontroller is the electronic device which contains processing Power, memory and IO ports to interact with different connected devices. In this system microcontroller is used to read the analog values of different sensors and send to personal computer using RS232 communication protocol. 2. Sensors, ADC and signal conditioning circuit In this system we are using temperature, and humidity sensors. Sensors are subject to be changed according to application but the basic fundamental is the same for any type of sensors since majority of the sensors are gives output as analog voltage or variable resistor. Signal conditioning circuit is used to convert variable resistor into voltage and amplification of incoming signal. 3. Serial communication Serial interface is used for communication between PC and microcontroller. Serial communication is widely used since its simple interface and range of distance that it can handle. 4. Personal computer with visual basic software The visual basic software running in personal computer shows the current values of different sensors as temperature, humidity etc. User can see, analyze and accordingly can ON/OFF the control devices like heater or cooling fan using button provided in the GUI of visual basic software. 5. Relay and Relay Driver Since microcontroller cannot provide sufficient power required to run the relay, relay driver is introduced in the system. The relay driver circuit takes low power signal (pulse) as input and gives high power as output. Hence it is used to drive the relay. Relay is the electromechanical switch which is here driven by microcontroller via relay driver IC. 6. Power supply Every component system is required power supply which is +5 volts for microcontroller and 9-12 volts for relay and its driver. This supply can be provided from batteries.
