The purpose of this course is to introduce the learner to communication principles and tools
as they relate to what we have called Communicating During Change. The principles in this
course borrow from (1) classical communication techniques (2) wealth of modern crisis,
issues management, communication and psychological theory and, (3) lessons learned form
the real and often painful world of experience, old-fashioned trial and error.
DID YOU KNOW...

That COMMUNICATION skills in times of change are as important in today's project planning as engineering,
marketing, and technical expertise.

That by understanding why there might be FEAR AND ANGER within the community, decision makers can work
towards establishing stakeholder TRUST AND CREDIBILITY.

That reaching out to and accepting the public as a LEGITIMATE PARTNER with real and valid concerns can ultimately
lead to GREATER PUBLIC ACCEPTANCE of a project or policy and CONFIDENCE DURING A CRISIS.
