Technology Lesson Plan Lesson Plan Assignment Lindsey Crosby Summer 2009 Topic: Solar System Class: Science Grade Level: 1 Standard from Alabama Course of Study: 11.) Compare the day sky to the night sky as observed with the unaided eye. Procedure: After two weeks of learning about the Solar System, students will review this information by playing the arcade game Wordshoot. Students will play this game individually by matching the questions to the correct answers. The student who receives the highest score will receive some gold star stickers and a certificate. Questions in this game: Which planet is closest to the sun?*Mercury Which planet do we live on?*Earth Which planet is Earth's sister planet?*Venus Which planet has the highest mountain?*Mars Which planet has a Giant Red Spot on it?*Jupiter Which planets is known for its beautiful icy rings?*Saturn Which planet spins on its side?*Uranus Which planet has a storm known as the Great Dark Spot?*Neptune How many planets are in our Solar System?*8 Which dwarf planet was once known as a planet in our Solar System?*Pluto Student Assessment: Each student will be assessed by how well they answer the questions correctly. There is a timer on this game so that the student will have to know the answers automatically in order to finish on time. At the end of the game students are given a score according to their performance. I will use this score as an indicator for mastery. Teacher Reflection: I feel that this game will be very beneficial to my students because it gives them a fun way of reviewing previously taught materials. Students can have access to this material for the rest of the school year in order to revisit this information.
