Dear, Mr. President,
Based on a project we have been working on it appears that most of
the earthquakes that are occurring are in North America around Alaska and
in the Pacific Ocean. The earthquakes are occurring mostly along the Juan
De Fuca Plate, the North American Plate, and the Cocos Plate.
Earthquakes are most likely to occur in places were two tectonic
plates are touching. The earthquakes are occurring in places where tectonic
plates are rubbing up against each other causing the earth to rumble and
shake. These earthquakes can cause severe damage to land masses around
the world.
It is possible to tell what parts of the world are prone to earthquakes.
It is possible because by finding out where tectonic plates are, you can make
an educated guess where earthquakes will or won’t happen.
There is a relationship between plate tectonics and volcanoes. The
relationship is that when two plates collide they push the earth up and the
then the pull of the impact brings up the lava from the earths core and a
volcano is formed.
Earthquakes are not just happening on land they are also happening in
the water. This can cause a tsunami, which can injure and kill thousands of
people and ruin thousands of acres of land.
