There have been many important social scientists across the disciplines of psychology, sociology and
anthropology, throughout history. Now that you understand what each discipline represents, it is important
that you are familiar with some of the major players. This assignment is intended to do just that.
You and you partner are going to do research and prepare a presentation on a social scientist from the list
below.

1) A one page visual graphic organizer outlining important about your social scientist.

What discoveries have they made and how does it contribute to the understanding of humans or
society in general? (What is their legacy/significance?)

What questions remain outstanding in their field of work?
include a picture of the person and symbols that best represents him/her
Remember: One page handout of your topic that is type written and distributed to the class (do not
give all the information to students, have some fill in the blanks). You are responsible to make the
correct number of photocopies for the class.
Be sure to hand in to Ms. Thresher a list of references written in APA style of the sources that were
used for your research.
2) A power point presentation to present your information.
Create a PowerPoint presentation that will:
 Introduce your social scientist to the class
 Give an outline of his/her field of research
 Identify the important contributions to his/her field
 Why he/she is important to a study of the social sciences
 Display the information creatively to convey your message
 Here, you may include video clips, student activities, class discussion, etc… Anything to
make the presentation engaging and informative!



Your presentation must include the following criteria:
Overview of the topic related to your secondary research using PowerPoint.
Prepare three thought provoking questions that create discussion about your presentation. You
will be assessed according to how you conduct the discussion and class involvement.
All presentations must be a minimum of 7 minutes or a maximum of 10 minutes. Do not go
over or under these limits or you will lose marks. You must present on the date noted on the
next page, which is an ABSOLUTE DEADLINE or you will RECEIVE ZERO.
You will be provided with two class periods to conduct your research and prepare a one page visual
graphic organizer and a PowerPoint presentation.
DUE DATE:
Please choose your partner wisely. Failure to have your materials and/or visuals ready could jeopardize
your mark. Both partners MUST be ready to present. This is NOT negotiable.
