Cette évolution provient notamment de l'accroissement de la fréquence et du taux de survie des nouveau-nés prématurés. Ce handicap est la conséquence fonctionnelle d'une atteinte cérébrale périnatale dont la physiopathologie reste mal connue. Il n'existe à ce jour aucun traitement préventif ou curatif. Notre objectif est d'étudier les mécanismes physiopathologiques des atteintes cérébrales du nouveau-né et de développer des stratégies de neuroprotection. Ces axes de recherche impliquent des études expérimentales chez l’animal et, lorsque cela est possible, des études chez l’homme, permettant d’enrichir mutuellement ces deux approches complémentaires, dans le cadre d’une recherche translationnelle. La prévention et le traitement de ces pathologies cérébrales constituent un défi pour les néonatologistes. Les phénomènes inflammatoires impliquant les cellules microgliales et l’excitotoxicité médiée par la glutamate et le récepteur N-MéthylD-Aspartate (NMDA) jouent un rôle majeur dans la pathogénèse de ces lésions cérébrales périnatales. Dans ce contexte, le projet de stage s’articule autour de mieux connaitre le lien entre inflammation et excitotoxicité, afin de définir des stratégies de neuroprotection.
