Explanations of crime and deviance application activity
You will be expected to apply your theoretical understanding of explanations of crime and deviance
to contemporary issues. This section uses a contemporary example to encourage you to begin to
apply a range of theories to assess how they might explain corporate crime. This activity also helps
you to assess how useful particular theories are in contemporary society. Some sociologists
believe for example, that traditional social theories are losing relevance in today’s society.

deviance. In the table below develop your application by using the concepts provided to write
