 To introduce students to the fundamental concepts of psychology
 Understanding the structure and dynamics of human psycho-social system
 Understand the importance of studying psychology by future social workers
 Building a positive attitude towards psychology as a scientific field.

Content
ATTENTION. Definition and role of attention. Selective
attention.
MOTIVATION. Maslow’s hierarchy of motives. Intrinsic
and extrinsic motivation. Need for achievement.
EMOTION. Cognitive, physiological and behavioral
components of emotions. Arousal. The expression of
emotions.
INTELLIGENCE. A. Binet's conception of intelligence.
Psychogenetic intelligence perspective (Piaget). The theory
of multiple intelligences (Gardner). The theory of emotional
intelligence (Salovey, Mayer).
CREATIVITY. Factors that affect creativity.
PERSONALITY. Biological approaches to personality.
Hippocrates’s theory of the four temperaments.
PERSONALITY. The psychodynamic perspective on
personality (S. Freud). Trait approaches (G. Allport, H.
Eysenck). Phenomenological approach (C. Rogers).
STRESS. H. Selye's theory of stress. Categorizing stressful
events: major life changes and minor daily problems.
Features of stressful events: uncertainty and lock of control.
Coping with stress.

The student pass the class if obtain more than 50 points from 100 points.
