What were they secluded from? In what ways did geography play a part in the development of the three societies we looked at in this unit? Make a t-chart detailing each culture's geography. Describe the different approaches to how two of the three countries organized their civilizations and how they interacted as groups within their own society while isolated from others. Do the two cultures you chose look different or similar? How? How did the Warring States period play out in Ancient China? Explain how it started, how long it lasted and how it ended. Who became Emperor and why? How were the Aryans and the Harappans different and what happened when they came in contact with each other in India. How was this unique in the Ancient World? What was the impact of China in Japan's development as a society? What were two things Japan kept but changed from what they got from China? In what way did Japanese culture develop to highlight ideas of perfection and discipline in how they did things in their society. Explain how this began and give examples in larger Ancient Japanese society. Possible Short Answer Questions Describe the differences between the societies of Ancient India and Ancient China in terms of political struggles and social structure. Be able to support your answer with examples from each of the two cultures. How were the four dynasties (Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Yuan) we studied in Ancient China examples of how China changed over time from a isolated and separated country to a unified Empire. Give examples to support your answer. You can create a timeline if it will help, but you need to explain it as well. In what ways was Ancient Japan different from Ancient China? Explain some differences that helped to shape how Japanese culture was unique and examples. Explain how the ideas of Buddhism and Hinduism effected the development of India in terms of its effects on Harappan social structure and Ashoka's Law Codes. Tell me how these religions reflect or originate ideas on Indian religion.
