In what ways did geography play a part in the development of the three societies we
looked at in this unit? Make a t-chart detailing each culture's geography.

civilizations and how they interacted as groups within their own society while isolated
from others. Do the two cultures you chose look different or similar? How?
How did the Warring States period play out in Ancient China? Explain how it started,
how long it lasted and how it ended. Who became Emperor and why?
How were the Aryans and the Harappans different and what happened when they came
in contact with each other in India. How was this unique in the Ancient World?
What was the impact of China in Japan's development as a society? What were two
things Japan kept but changed from what they got from China?
In what way did Japanese culture develop to highlight ideas of perfection and discipline
in how they did things in their society. Explain how this began and give examples in
larger Ancient Japanese society.
Possible Short Answer Questions
 Describe the differences between the societies of Ancient India and Ancient
China in terms of political struggles and social structure. Be able to support your
answer with examples from each of the two cultures.
 How were the four dynasties (Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Yuan) we studied in Ancient
China examples of how China changed over time from a isolated and separated
country to a unified Empire. Give examples to support your answer. You can
create a timeline if it will help, but you need to explain it as well.
 In what ways was Ancient Japan different from Ancient China? Explain some
differences that helped to shape how Japanese culture was unique and
examples.
 Explain how the ideas of Buddhism and Hinduism effected the development of
India in terms of its effects on Harappan social structure and Ashoka's Law
Codes. Tell me how these religions reflect or originate ideas on Indian religion.
