Food Shortage
Causes
fine sand in sahara desert is
expanding southwards,
swalloing up homes. Worse in
Soil Exhaustion
April because strong
sandstorms get sand in
homes.
Dry spells result to no water.
There was no rain between
Drought
april and may causing no food
to grow. Water sources have
dried up.
Flood
Tropical Cyclones
heavy rainstorms can cause
floods along with overflowing
rivers etc.
intense rain can cause
cyclones,
Pests
outbreaks of locusts. locusts
lay eggs. desert locusts breed
fast.
Disease
first pathogenic plant fungus.
spreads rapidly
Consequences
Water is being covered by sand.
Cutting down so many trees is
letting the sand pass quicker,
destroying their homes faster.
Drought that has hit northern,
southern and western Afghanistan
has killed many people, especially
young children. People's crops have
died because of the dry spell.
Causes people to lose homes or even
lives. Subsistence farmers suffer
from not being able to grow crops
because water covers their fields,
stopping crops from growing.
death, no food. Subsistence farmers
lose crops and land. money needed
to help feed people.
swarm of locusts can eat same
amount of food as 2,500 people.
locusts leave people without food.
1/2 world population needs rice to
live. infects rice plant which
eventually kills it, stopping the
production of rice, stopping income.
fungus life code can be read which
means they can find cures to the
disease!

Transport
from being transported.
Difficulties
winter will make roads even
trickier.
armed forces stop food from
getting to people. armed

Conflict
people need, take away relief
aid.
food is being sent to other
people when the people who

economics of foreign

Consequences
not enough maize delivered
worldwide. people are hungry b/c
maize is one of the main food
sources for them
hard to make deliveries because of
bad roads. people cannot eat and
starve because they cannot get to
the food that cannot come into their

the people who grow the crops do
