Title: Carbon Farming Risk & Compliance Manager
Reports to: Carbon Farming General Manager
Business Unit: Australian Projects
Number of direct reports: 1
Location: Sydney
Primary purpose
of this position:
Identify and manage all operational, technical, reputational, client, financial, legal, regulatory and
other risks involved in Climate Friendly’s carbon farming project development processes and project
portfolio.
Ensure that Climate Friendly’s carbon farming project development processes and project portfolio
comply with all relevant Federal and State legislation, regulations, rules and guidelines.
Manage and oversee all legal/contractual matters including negotiating Services Agreements, Sales
Contracts and the like, as well as all ad hoc legal issues.

Key outcomes/
accountabilities:
Include but are not limited to:








Owning, reviewing, revising, updating and communicating to stakeholders the end-to-end project
development process for carbon farming projects.
Managing the process to obtain eligible interest holder consents from banks, State Government
and Aboriginal Corporations.
Ensuring project compliance with relevant Government legislation, regulations, rules and
guidelines.
Day to day management of ongoing legal issues including managing relationships and
partnerships with legal firms.
Ensuring ongoing compliance with Climate Friendly’s obligations under its Australian Financial
Services Licence.
Supporting and training client managers to ensure compliance with existing Services
Agreements, Sales Contracts and all aspects of the project development process.
Negotiating with clients on new Service Agreements, Sales Contracts and other contractual
arrangements...
Working with an administration assistant to track and report upon compliance of existing and
prospective projects.

Knowledge Skills
& Experience:

Experience with carbon farming and emissions reduction fund legislation.

Background in law, business, economics or policy development.

Strong expertise in contract negotiations and management.

Expertise working with a broad range of stakeholders.

Proven results in negotiations with Government and other stakeholders.

Ability to work on your own.

Reporting, communication and training skills.

Experience in the carbon market, especially the Emissions Reduction Fund and Carbon
Farming Initiative desirable.
