1. Pioneer Species- the first species in an area
2. Predation- the process of preying on other animals
3. Commensalism- relationship where one species benefits and the other is not affected
4. Omnivore- organism that eats both meat (consumers) and plants (producers)
5. Carnivore- organism that eats only consumers or meat
6. Herbivore- organism that eats only producers or plants
7. Adaptations- genetic modifications that make an organism better suited to its environment
8. Species- organisms capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring

10. Trophic levels- each step in a food chain or web
