MPS Master SECTION 08 31 00 ACCESS DOORS AND PANELS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 A. SUMMARY Section Includes: 1. Shop Drawings: Provide in accordance with Section 01 33 00. B. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical data and installation instructions, including setting drawings, templates, instructions, and directions for installation of anchorage devices. C. Shop Drawings: If not included with Product Data, provide details, elevations, anchorage method, and accessory item information. 1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Fire Resistance Ratings: Wherever a fire resistance classification is indicated, provide access door assembly with panel door, frame, hinge, and latch from manufacturer listed in Underwriters’ Laboratories, Inc. (UL), "Classified Building Materials Index" for rating shown. B. Identification of Fire Rating: Provide UL label on each fire rated access door. C. Size Variations: Obtain Architect's acceptance of manufacturer's standard size units which may vary slightly from sizes indicated on Drawings. D. Coordination: Furnish inserts and anchoring devices which shall be built into other work for installation of access doors. Coordinate delivery with other work to avoid delay. 1.04 A. WARRANTY Aluminum Floor Access Door: Manufacturer shall warranty door against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 5 years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 A. Door Leaf: 1/4-inch aluminum diamond plate reinforced with aluminum stiffeners as required to withstand a live load of 150 pounds per square foot. Hinges: Cast steel, bolted to underside and pivot on torsion bars that counter-balance door. Door shall open 90 degrees and automatically lock in that position. Handle: Provide vinyl grip handle which releases door for closing. Latching: Latching shall consist of a snap lock which is operated by a removable key wrench from outside and latch release handle on inside. Exposed Aluminum Components: Mill finish. Frame: Factory apply a bituminous coating on surfaces that will be in contact with concrete. Hardware: Cadmium plated. Door leaf to be flush with frame and adjacent floor surface. Door contains 4 inches of fire rated insulation. 3. Hardware and Operation: a. Testing Standards: ASTM E119 (maximum temperature rise to 250 degree F) subjected to hose stream test in accordance with NFPA 252, UL 10(b), and UBC. E. Hinge: Continuous type steel with stainless steel pin. 7. Locking and Latching Device: Cylinder lock and key. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 A. 3.02 PREPARATION General Requirements: 1. Advise and coordinate with installers of work relating to installation of access doors, including rough opening dimensions, locations of supports, and anchoring methods. 2. Coordinate delivery with related work to avoid Project delay. INSTALLATION A. General Requirements: recommendations. B. Setting Frames: Set frames accurately in position and securely attach to supports with face panels plumb or level in relation to adjacent finish surfaces. 3.03 A. B. 3.04 A. Install doors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and ADJUSTING General Requirements: 1. Adjust doors after installation for proper operation. 2. Adjust latching and locking mechanism to operate smoothly. Correction of Defective Work: Remove doors which are warped, bowed or otherwise damaged and install new doors.
