Geometry Review!
** You will need a protractor for this chapter!!**
Intersecting lines and line segments:
1. Opposite Angles- A pair of equal angles formed by two intersecting
lines. Angles a and c are opposite angles, and angles b and d are
opposite angles:

c
2. Supplementary angles- two angles that add up to 180o.
o
3. Complementary angles- Two angles that add up to 90 .

Parallel Lines:
When a line intersects parallel lines, the angles formed have special
relationships:
1. Alternate Interior Angles ( Z pattern): page 259

Transformations:
1. Translation- a slide (see page 260)
2. Reflection- a flip (see page 260)
3. Rotation- a turn (see page 260)
Dilatation, Scale, Scale Factor and Proportion:
1. Dilatation- an enlargement or reduction.
2. Scale- the size of a figure or drawing in relation to the original
object. A scale diagram is an accurate drawing that is either an
enlargement or a reduction of an actual object.

3. Scale factor- a ratio or number that represents the amount by which
a figure is either enlarged or reduced.
4. proportions- a statement that says two ratios are equal . that can be
used to determine measurements in scale drawings.
