Spelling Activity Ideas 1. Neatly write the spelling words in cursive 5 times each. 2. Create a wordsearch with the spelling words listed in a word bank. 3. Create a series of short, rhyming poems with the spelling words being a part of the rhyme scheme. 4. Create a code to secretly write the spelling words. Be sure to create a key and crack the code. 5. Cut out a picture from a newspaper or magazine. Create your own story about the picture using all the spelling words. Please circle or underline the spelling words as you use them. 6. Write the spelling list in alphabetical order followed by writing each word a total of 3 times. 7. Create word pyramids with each word, one letter at a time. Example c ca cat 8. Write the alphabet on a piece of paper. Under A, write $1.00. Under B, write $2.00, and so on. Figure up the dollar amount of each of your Spelling words. 9. Create a word jumble or scramble with the spelling words. Be sure to solve the scramble or jumble. 10. Write the spelling words followed by 2 synonyms for each word. 11. Write your spelling words in 2 colors - one color for the vowels and another for the consonants. 12. Write your own descriptive definition of the spelling words. 13. Organize the spelling words into categories based off of any patterns you see in the words. 14. Write the spelling list in reverse alphabetical order followed by writing each word a total of 3 times. 18. Create a jigsaw puzzle using parts of the spelling words as pieces.
