Spelling Choices
Directions: Read the choices below to decide what activities you would like to complete.
You may choose any combination of activities as long as you choose 3 different ones. Completed
spelling assignments are due by Wednesday morning and no later! You may turn them in earlier if
you wish.
Spelling Art- Write and Illustrate 10 words.
Poetry Spelling- Write a poem using at least 10 words.
Tell me a story- Write a story using your words. The story must be at least 3 paragraphs.
Riddle me this- Write a question or riddle for at least 10 words. For example…What animal can be
mooooody? a cow
Rainbow Words- Write each word in pencil. Then trace over it 3 times using different colors.
Silly sentences -Use all your words in ten sentences.
ABC order- Write your words in alphabetical order.
Ransom words – Chose 10 words to spell. Cut out letters in a newspaper or magazine and glue each word
on a piece of paper.
3 Times each- write each spelling word three times each.
Crossword Magic- Make a crossword puzzle using your spelling words.
Flash Cards- Make a set of flash cards on index cards to study your words.
Say what? - Write each word. Then list a synonym and antonym for each word.
Shaving Words- Write your words in the shaving cream or something edible if you wish (whipped cream or
peanut butter). After you have written each word, check to see that you have spelled it correctly. Make sure
to bring a note from a parent/guardian!
Stair steps - Write words as if they are stairs, adding one letter each time. (If you are using lined paper,
begin up against the left margin line. If you are using graph paper, begin on the left.)
Word shapes- write your spelling words in the form of a shape or picture (circle, square, rectangle, cloud
etc…)
