The keypad will now show PROGRAMMER. Refer to the panel programming guide for each of the programming sections. 3. HOW DO I ADD/CHANGE/DELETE USER CODES? Enter the user menu and press CMD until USER CODES displays. Press any top row select key (any of the top four buttons.) The display will show ADD DEL CHG. Press the select key under the function you want. Depending on the panel type you will be asked for the user number, then the user code, areas, and levels of the user code you want to add, delete, or change. 4. HOW DO I PROGRAM DMP WIRELESS TRANSMITTERS? To program DMP wireless transmitters you will first need to set up a House Code in SYSTEM OPTIONS. The House Code for DMP wireless must be programmed in the range of 1-50. Once this is selected you will go to ZONE INFORMATION. Enter the zone number, name, area and type. At the NEXT ZONE prompt you will select NO. At the WIRELESS prompt select YES, and then enter the serial number of the transmitter and other wireless parameters depending on the transmitter type. For more information, refer to the System Options and Zone Information sections of the panel Programming Guides. 5. WHAT DO I DO IF THE KEYPAD DISPLAYS SYSTEM TROUBLE? First, make sure the J16 jumper on the control panel is not shorted. Next, make sure your data voltages are normal. This can be accomplished by measuring DC Voltage from Green to Black (3.5VDC is normal) and from Yellow to Black (4.5VDC is normal) on the keypad bus. Finally, make sure you have good wire connection and continuity between all devices and the panel. 6. WHAT IS THE DEFAULT USER CODE AND HOW DO I CHANGE IT? The default user code is always 99. You must enter the user menu with 99 CMD. Enter the user menu and press CMD until you see user codes. Press a top row key and then select CHG (Change). Once change is selected, enter the default user number. Depending on the panel type, the default user is always stored in the last user slot. (For example: XR500 = 9999, XR40 = 64 because the XR40 has 64 users.) 7. WHY DO I GET A PANEL CONNECTION ERROR: TIMEOUT WHEN I TRY TO CONNECT TO A PANEL USING LINK SOFTWARE? A timeout will occur when the software is not able to communicate with the panel. The panel will only cause this timeout message if the account number of the panel in the panel’s communication does not match the account number in the software’s connection status window. If the account numbers are verified to match the problem could be: FOR DIRECT CONNECT: • Incorrect pin outs on serial cable or, • J23 jumper not set to R FOR NETWORK COMMUNICATION: • Incorrect IP address or network unplugged or compromised. 8. HOW DO I ADDRESS MY ZONE EXPANDERS FOR LX-BUS? All expanders have rotary switches or dip switches. Dip switch settings are all binary and rotary switch dials are 0-9. XR500 panels use addresses 500-999 so if you have one LX bus card or no cards then you would start with zone 500 and go to 599. (For example: the address for a 714 assigned to zones 501-504 would be 01, therefore the rotary switch would be set to: tens=0 and ones=1.) 14. WHAT DO I DO IF MY KEYPAD DISPLAYS UNUSUAL CHARACTERS? First, disconnect the keypad bus and try having only one keypad attached directly to the panel. This will verify that a bad device is not the cause. Next, measure the DC voltage on pins 7, 8, 9, and 10 on the panel. The voltages should be within 10% of the following: Red/Black=12.5VDC Yellow/Black=4.5VDC Green/Black=3.5VDC. If the voltages are not correct, the problem may be a shorted or open wire. 15. HOW MANY BATTERIES CAN I CHARGE ON A PANEL? This is dependent upon the panel’s total current draw and if any power supplies are installed to allow for additional batteries. As a standard, each panel can support up to two, 7Ah batteries. The XR500 can charge up to 8 batteries based on the configuration of the panel and additional power supplies installed. 11. WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN I SEE BATTERY-TRBL ON THE KEYPAD? 16. HOW DO I GET INTO DEALER DIRECT ON WWW.DMP.COM? BATTERY-TRBL means either the backup battery is missing or battery voltage is below 11.9VDC. On December 31, 2008, DMP changed access to our Dealer Direct website. Now, each Dealer has an in-house administrator who has the capability of adding and deleting employees as necessary. The administrator will issue an invitation to each potential user with a link to the website and the user will then create a login and password of their own choosing. Please find out who the administrator is for your company. If you call DMP Customer Service, they will be able to direct you to your administrator. They can not grant you access to the website. 12. HOW DO I ADD OR DELETE A ZONE? Enter programming and press CMD until you see ZONE INFORMATION. Press a top row key and enter the zone number you want to add or delete. When deleting a zone, press a top row key at the zone name and press CMD. When adding a zone, enter the zone number, and then enter the zone name you want. You can then program the zone type and area where to assign the zone. The Dealer Direct section includes software downloads, DMP Forums and access to the web-based training. 13. WHAT IS THE RANGE OF DMP WIRELESS? Each DMP transmitter is tested at 1200-ft line of sight before it leaves the factory.
