Computer Cell Project 200 Points (No Late Passes)
You will be creating a computer generated plant cell and animal cell using draw and paint programs.
You will include the following listed below. The three organelles in bold are only found in a plant cell

Do Not Email Me Your Computer Cell Project.
I Will Not Grade It.
Procedure:
1. Create a plant cell and animal cells using a drawing program on the computer. You must create this yourself.
You cannot down load pictures, or scan pictures.
2. Start with the plant cell. Create all 15 cell parts and label them.
3. Now copy the plant cell onto a new page and label this cell “animal cell’.
4. Delete the cell wall, the large vacuole and the chloroplast from the cell.
5. Label each part of each cell.
6. Finish and print in color at home.
7. Answer the questions below.
8. List your Two Sources of Information. An encyclopedia is OK, but be specific.
Questions:
1. Defend the statement: “A cell is like and atom.” (5 points)
2. Compare and contrast a plant and animal cell. (10 points)
3. Compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. (10 points)
4. Compare and contrast mitochondrion and chloroplasts. (10 points)
5. Explain why plant cells need both mitochondrion and chloroplasts. (10 points)

_________All 15 Parts are computer generated by you and labeled (typed) on the Plant Cell.
_________All 12 Parts are computer generated by you and labeled (typed) on the Animal Cell.
_________Cell parts are different colors and are an accurate representation of the organelle.
(example: mitochondrion is peanut shaped, Chloroplast is green)
_________All 5 questions are answered and TYPED

Must use numbers for credit!
1. __________a specialized, usually spherical mass of protoplasm encased in a double membrane and found in
most living eukaryotic cells, directing their growth, metabolism, and reproduction, and functioning
in the transmission genetic characters. Contains DNA and Chromatin.
2. __________ an organelle containing enzymes responsible for producing energy. The site for cellular
respiration
3. __________the double membrane surrounding the nucleus within a cell.
4. __________the definite boundary or wall that is part of the outer structure of certain cells, as a plant cell.
5. __________ in the cells of green plants and green algae that contains chlorophylls and carotenoid pigments
and creates glucose through photosynthesis
6. __________ a network of stacked membranous vesicles present in most living cells that functions in the
formation of secretions within a cell. Puts the coating on a part and ships it out.
7. __________ helps create parts of the cell membrane and also creates lipids. Ribosomes not attached.
8. __________ the semi permeable membrane that encloses the cytoplasm of a cell.
9. __________ the easily stainable substance of a cell nucleus, consisting on DNA, RNA, and various proteins,
that forms chromosomes during cell division.
10. __________a membrane-bound organelle in the cytoplasm of most cells containing various hydrolytic
enzymes that function in intracellular digestion
11. __________a small, typically round granular body composed of protein and RNA in the nucleus of a cell. It is
usually associated with a specific chromosomal site and involved in ribosomal RNA synthesis
and the formation of ribosome.
12. __________ creates parts for the cell membrane, has the ribosomes attached to it.
13. __________the cell gel-like substance between the cell membrane and the nucleus, containing the cytosol,
organelles, cytoskeleton, and various particles.
14. ____7____a membrane-bound cavity within a cell, . Very large in plant cells.
15. __________a tiny, somewhat mitten-shaped organelle occurring in great numbers in the cell cytoplasm either
freely, in small clusters, or attached to the outer surfaces of endoplasmic reticula, and
functioning as the site of protein manufacture.
